E. Tips for Stitchers--contributions from yarntree.com and other stitchers

1. Hello from Q-Snap-- Little did you know we have a mold in the works and will produce a 5 1/4” square and a 3 3/4” square. I have no promise from the mold maker as to delivery to our supplier, but as soon as the mold is delivered and samples molded, and approved, they will be available and I will post it on the web site.
Monta Lea Kramer, Inventor Q-Snap Frames

2. Problems seeing the holes on dark fabric? Try putting a white towel on your lap to act as a light background for your dark fabric. It should help you see the holes better. Or you could use a small light below your fabric for the same effect.

3.The lady said when she has several small projects she uses one lg. piece of fabric on her scroll frame. Using a quilt pen ( erases with water ) she marks off material in sections. Then works each design as you would normally. Once done she cuts them apart, this saves fabric.
4. I purchased a roll of magnet strip from Joanne Fabrics and cut it into the size pieces I needed - anywhere from 1/2" and up. The strip is sticky on the back side and covered with a peel-away paper. You could probably find this same thing at Michaels, MJDesigns, a hobby store.
5. To get rid of creases, I stretch the material in q-snaps or a small hoop until the crease is exposed, dab it with water and then use my blowdryer.. works every time...

A. MONTHLY August Activities at CROSS STITCH RESOURCES

This month we are having a PILLOW TOPPER Exchange. The time frame to get the topper and to complete it will be due October 1. The price to order the topper and the monogram chart is $7.95 which is rather rasonable compared to just purchasing only the topper. Information as to where to sign up for the exchange and to obtain the topper through a 1-800 number is at Cross Stitch Resources

B. Exchanges and Round Robins

I am concentrating this time on Round Robins only. If you have never made one, the following sites would be a good place to check out what it is and get involved.

Terri's Info on Round Robins --

Julie Gritton -- What is a Band Sampler --

C. Freebie Sites

I found two sites that were fun to sit and check out each page.

NOSTALGIA NEEDLE is coming to us from the UK. I consider it very well designed and alot of info coming across the waters to the USA stitchers.
To view the freebies you download, you must have her viewer....and it isn't a memory gobbler. The other charts can be downloaded but you cannot unzip until you pay for them.
http://www.nostalgianeedlework.com

LORRAC DESIGNS is a place I got totally immersed in for awhile. She is the designer and has an index of her categories right on the front page. You can start with the index and just keep on going until you are back at the beginning.

http://www.neosoft.com/~cac

FLASH--Another new freebie just came over the wires from Austria. CROSS STITCH DESIGNS. It is a flower chart designed by Susan..
http://www.maurer-stroh.com/freebies.htm

x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

D. New Sites to visit

Are you into auctions? Maybe you will find something here to bid on.
http://www.xstitches.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi
A forum/message board where you can receive messages directly to your email. You must sign up for the board called "stitcher" and you will receive a weekly email on the messages from the board
http://www.onelist.com

Catalog of FINE ARTS is 'the' place to find charts of the masters. Some of the greats--Monet, VanGogh--are shown and their is a chart that goes with the picture that can be purchased.
http://www.aa.net/fahsxstitch/catalog.htm
Humor is one of the main attractions I thoroughly enjoyed at this site. ( I guess you can tell I had a good time here for quite awhile.) Look for "You know you are a cross stitch addict when.................". You probably will see yourself in many of the statements.
http://www.nostalgianeedlework.com

x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x <> E. Stitcher's Tips

This area should have at least one good tip each month that we can use to make our stitching earier or maybe even less time consuming or stressful. Here is one I applied to my own UFO's and I am making headway thanks to a friend.
"I think my habit of rotating UFO's and setting a timer/or during the length of a TV show/or during one side of a CD/or some other timing is worthy of passing on. A friend of mine rotates her UFO's by days of the week and she takes Saturday off as her day of rest. LOL Other stitchers may feel overwhelmed by their UFO's and this idea might not have occurred to them." by Another Stitcher
Ever wonder what your chart size will be if you change your stitch count to a different size. Most charts will show the number of stitches in your design but what if it not showing for the count you might want to use. This site has is all laid out for you and describes how to use it.
http://www.winonanet.com/mktplace/tvenette/designarea.html

x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

F. Stitcher's Need Answers

This would be a good place to ask that question you have always wanted an answer. Send them to us and include your email, so you can get that answer directly. We will ask for some of the replies so we can publish the responses received so others may learn.
We are going to put a response here to an O.T. we received regarding ink for your cartridges. We use our printers like crazy when those freebies come out. Right! Ever run out of ink right in the middle and it means starting all over again but wait, you need a new cartridge. OOPs. Fill up your own cartridges and save, save, save. Just think of all the new charts you can buy with that money. Buy the ink in bulk and refill your own cartridges. Contact me at stitchn98@hotmail.com and I will send you the supplier I use and the cost.
Never will you run out of ink, again(I hope).
